    Miloszszsz

The biography and creative output of Czeslaw Milosz are an exceptional testimonial to the scale and dynamics of the cultural, social and political changes of the twentieth century, the long and uncertain road to a new order based on the principles of freedom and democracy.

Nobel laureate Czeslaw Milosz was an exceptional witness and attentive observer of the issues, as seen in his literary works, his journalism, dialogues, correspondence, audio and video recordings. Having arisen over a period exceeding 70 years, they form an unprecedented guide to the contemporary world. They allow us to recognize and understand our identity.

Documents and media are fading, demagnetizing, turning to dust before our eyes. The initial objective of the Institute is therefore the collection and digital archiving of  all publications and documents connected with the person and creative output of Czeslaw Milosz, in their many formats. If you have any materials please see here.

In its final form The Milosz Institute is to be a Center of Scholarly Information, that nurtures historical/literary research using the most advanced technologies, and the advancement of these technologies. It will be accessible electronically world-wide to all parties interested in the life and works of Czeslaw Milosz, and knowledge about the twentieth century in general.

The Institute is based in the US and Poland, developing

  • Publications and web presence
  • Seminars and Symposia
